Lady Superstar Nayanthara is having a packed 2026. After a strong start with Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu in January, she returned in the Malayalam thriller Patriot and then appeared in two back-to-back August releases — Yash’s pan-India gangster drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups and the Tamil romantic comedy Hi opposite Kavin.

In Toxic, released on 26 August, Nayanthara plays Ganga, Yash’s sister. The Geetu Mohandas film crossed ₹200 crore at the domestic box office and featured an ensemble including Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi. Days later, on 28 August, Hi hit theatres. The Vishnu Edavan film, which Nayanthara also produced, was postponed from mid-August and has been noted for the lead pair’s chemistry.

Her Telugu outing Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi, was a commercial success and marked another high-profile pairing with Chiranjeevi. Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, saw her as lawyer Lathika Padmanabhan and added to her growing multilingual slate this year.

Next up is Mookuthi Amman 2, the Sundar C sequel in which she reprises the goddess role, reportedly in a dual avatar. The film is targeting a Diwali 2026 theatrical release. Also in the pipeline are the period drama Mannangatti Since 1960, the bilingual Dear Students with Nivin Pauly, and Rakkayie.

Nayanthara has also begun shooting an untitled pan-India action film opposite Salman Khan, directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju, slated for 2027. With acting and producing credits across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada this year, she remains one of the busiest stars in South Indian cinema.
